A beautiful evening picnic...
...overlooking the Minneapolis skyline. It's just the two of you celebrating your anniversary - plus a photographer and her cameras!! :)
Sonal contacted us to help celebrate her 10th anniversary by surprising Rohan with a romantic picnic photoshoot, and we were more than happy to make it happen! She wanted to do something styled but still relatively private so she and Rohan felt comfortable in front of the camera. They both love beer and we initially discussed shooting at a brewery, but decided on a picnic instead for a more intimate and private feel.
We ultimately decided on Boom Island Park in Minneapolis as the perfect location; it provides beautiful rolling hills which are perfect for a picnic, with the added bonus of the Minneapolis skyline in the background to honor the city these two have called home for many years. We also made use of the stunning riverside pavement for some shots as well! This park ended up being the perfect spot because while there were many other people at the park, they were all quite far from us and busy doing their own thing. It didn't feel like anybody was watching us and it allowed us to make some photo magic!
To style their picnic, we started with a neutral patterned outdoor blanket to help keep their images light, bright, and neutral. This one from Hearth & Hand at Target is the one we used! We didn't want to go overboard with styling, so we kept it simple with a classic woven picnic basket and a wooden charcuterie board. Sonal made (delicious!) grilled sandwiches and we accessorized with berries, crackers, and cheese.
At the end of the day, the star of the picnic spread was the beer! Sonal brought two cans of beer along with two beautiful wheat beer glasses for a more polished look - we didn't want the cans distracting from their beautiful faces! We love adding activity, movement, and interaction in our photos, so this gave us lots to capture between pouring the beer, drinking, and cheers-ing! To tie it all together was the chalkboard sign which says "Cheers to 10 years!"
We can't fail to mention how important Sonal and Rohan's outfit choices were for the shoot - their light neutral attire helps keep the photos looking editorial and doesn't distract from the point of the shoot - to capture and celebrate their enduring love over the past 10 years and beyond :)
